Conditions and accessibility

Visitor conditions

The castle is largely exposed to the elements, so please check the weather conditions.

Access to the walls and staircases may be closed off or restricted in certain weather conditions (wind, frost, snow, rain etc.)
The towers and battlements are connected by long staircases, which are irregular and slippery in places.

The castle's exterior spaces are very open and well-lit, but inside the towers it can get very dark. This contrast may be disorientating for visitors who are sensitive to light.

Disabled access: via Place Pierre Symon. Accessible welcome centre (wheelchair lift, accessible toilets, information booth for the hard of hearing, video guides in French sign language, visitor information for children)

    Guide dogs

    Guide dogs are welcome.

    Someone with reduced mobility

The site is partially accessible to wheelchair users. A "Special Access" room has been set up in the castle courtyard. This facility allows visitors who are unable to physically explore the whole of the castle to get a general overview of the historical riches which lie within these imposing walls.

    Magnetic loops

There are listening points dotted around the castle grounds, designed to interact with the audioguides.

Visitors with visual impairments can learn more about the architectural structure of an artillery tower thanks to a tactile model in the Raoul II Tower. One of the most impressive technical feats of Medieval military architecture, explored in a fun and accessible way.

    Parking available near the Château.

Audio guides

Audio guides are available all year round, and are included in the entry price.
The audio guide is available in five languages (French, English, German, Spanish and Italian).
