Discover more than 1000 years of history... The Château de Fougères is a living monument of military architecture - come and discover its secrets! Learn all about the history of one of Europe's biggest medieval fortresses, which protected the Duchy of Brittany from 1000 to 1500.

Individual visitor prices

These prices include your choice of either an audio guide for each visitor, or else the option of joining a guided tour of the castle.

Tickets are valid for the whole day.

Equivalent to two adults and one child; additional children (aged 6-18) free of charge.


Annual season ticket

The 'Ambassador' card gives you unlimited free access to the castle grounds and the new visitor experience for the whole year, and also entitles visitors accompanying you to discounted entry.

Explore the castle with your family.

The Château de Fougères is open all year round (except January) for individual visits, audio-guided tours or guided tours led by a historian from the local heritage department. Audio guides are available for children aged 6 and over, and video guides in French sign language are also available.
Helmets are dotted around the castle to indicate different chapters in the audio guide, helping you to immerse yourself in the day-to-day life of the castle.

    Exploring the ramparts, access to the towers, walls and exhibition spaces.

  • Guided tour

     : 45 min

    Times and visits may vary.

Audio guides

Audio guides are available all year round, and are included in the entry price.
The audio guide is available in five languages (French, English, German, Spanish and Italian).
Audio guides are suitable for children of age 6 and over Video guide available with French sign language
The audio guide takes you through the history of the Château de Fougères and the Breton Marches:
step back in time to the age of castles and medieval warfare, and learn more about day-to-day life in the Middle Ages.

Tours for Kids

We also have a special visitor experience for children aged 6 and over, a fun and educational way to explore the Château de Fougères: the route is dotted with puzzles to solve, as kids discover the secrets of the castle with the help of our young mascots Melusin and Melusa.

A series of mysterious books contain puzzles which must be solved to unlock the next stage in this medieval adventure!
